Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us: what we sell, what your school sells, how payment works, and where you stand when something goes wrong.
Last updated
1. This agreement
These terms are between you and EasyResumption, the platform on which Nigerian schools sell books and collect fees, and on which we sell resumption provisions directly. By creating an account, placing an order or paying through the platform, you accept them.
If you are using the platform on behalf of a school, you accept them for that school and confirm you are authorised to do so. Sections 12 and 13 apply to schools specifically.
Read them with the Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your information and forms part of this agreement.
2. What the platform is, and who sells what
This distinction matters, because it decides who you are contracting with and who answers when something is wrong.
| What you are buying | Who sells it | Who sets the price |
|---|---|---|
| Books on your child's booklist | Your child's school | The school |
| School fees | Your child's school | The school |
| Provisions from the resumption catalogue | Us | Us |
For books and fees we run the shopfront, take the payment and pass the money to the school. The goods, the prices, the booklist and the fee are the school's. For provisions, everything is ours: we stock them, price them, collect for them and deliver them.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or over to hold an account. Accounts are for parents, guardians and school staff, not for students.
- You sign in with a six-digit code sent to your email address. There is no password. That makes your email account the key to your account here, so keep it secure and tell us at once if you lose control of it.
- Give us accurate details and keep them current. Deliveries, receipts and payment confirmations all go to what you have told us.
- Do not share your sign-in code. Anyone who has it can act as you, and we will treat activity on your account as yours.
- One account per person. If you have children at more than one school, one account covers them all.
4. Registering a child
When you add a child you tell us their name, their school and their grade, and you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian or are otherwise entitled to act for them. We do not verify this at the point of registration.
The check happens in person. Books are handed to a named student at the school or delivered to the address you gave, and the school will satisfy itself who it is handing them to. Registering a child on this platform does not enrol them, prove enrolment, or create any relationship between you and the school that did not already exist.
Get a grade wrong and you may be shown the wrong booklist and buy the wrong books. Check it before you order.
5. Ordering books
- You can order for several children, across several grades, in a single checkout.
- Some schools show you a price for each book and some show only a total. That is the school's choice, not ours, and it does not change what you owe.
- Prices, titles and quantities are fixed onto your order at the moment you place it. If the school changes a price or edits a booklist afterwards, your placed order is untouched.
- An order becomes binding when your payment is confirmed. Until then it is a request.
- Each item on an order moves on its own: packaged, backordered, handed over or cancelled. Part of an order can be ready while the rest is not.
6. School fees
Your child's school sets its fee for each term and grade and issues an invoice against your child. The amount, the term and the grade are fixed onto the invoice when it is issued, so a later change to the school's fee structure does not rewrite an invoice you have already been given.
You can pay a fee invoice in full or in part, as many times as you need, until it is settled. We collect that money on the school's behalf and pass it to the school. Whether a part-paid fee is enough for any purpose at the school is between you and the school; the platform records the payment and nothing more.
7. Provisions
The provisions catalogue is ours, not your school's, and it is the same catalogue for every parent on the platform. Provisions are delivered to the address you give us, not to the school.
- A flat delivery fee of ₦4,000 applies to a provisions order. It is shown in your basket before you check out, and fixed onto the order.
- Provisions are paid for online only. Bank transfer and cash at the school counter are not available for them, because both depend on a school confirming the payment and no school is involved in a provisions order.
- We do not track provisions stock in real time. If we cannot supply something you have paid for, we will tell you and refund that item.
8. Paying
Each school switches on the payment methods it wants. Depending on your school you may see any of the following.
| Method | How it is confirmed |
|---|---|
| Online payment, by card, bank transfer, mobile money or crypto | Automatically, as soon as our payment provider confirms it |
| Direct bank transfer to the school | You upload proof, and a school administrator confirms or rejects it |
| Cash or POS at the school | A school administrator confirms it at the counter |
- Everything is priced in naira, and the naira figure is what you owe. If you pay in another currency the payment page converts it and shows you the amount and the rate before you confirm.
- Online payments have a minimum of ₦100. Below that, pay the school directly.
- We are not a bank. We are not holding your money on deposit, we pay no interest on it, and money paid for books or fees is passed to your school.
- We charge your school a fee on what it collects. It is never added to your bill, and you never pay it.
- Uploading a proof of payment is not the same as paying. A transfer is confirmed when the school confirms it, not when you upload the receipt.
- One payment can be in progress against an order at a time. If a payment attempt expires you can start another.
9. Delivery, pickup and handover
- Where your school offers delivery you choose delivery or pickup at checkout, and a delivery fee set by your school is added and fixed onto the order.
- Delivery is to the address you give us. Give us an address someone can actually receive goods at; we are not responsible for a delivery that fails because the address was wrong or nobody was there.
- For pickup, books are handed over at the school to the named student or to you. The person handing them over decides they are satisfied who they are handing them to.
- We do not promise a delivery date. Status moves from packaging to out for delivery to delivered, and you can see where an order has got to at any time.
10. When a book is not available
Sometimes a book on a list is out of stock. That item is marked backordered rather than quietly dropped, and the rest of your order proceeds. When stock arrives, the school is alerted against your child specifically and hands the book over.
If a backordered book cannot be supplied at all, you are entitled to a refund of what you paid for it. Ask us or the school; see the next section.
11. Refunds, cancellations and returns
Refunds are handled by a person, not by a button
There is no cancel or refund control in the app. Contact us or your school and we will work it out with you.
To ask for a refund or to cancel, email help@easyresumption.com, call 0707 376 5902 or 0815 034 8205, or use the help and support page in the app. Tell us the order and what went wrong. We will respond, and where a refund is due we will make it to the account you paid from.
We will refund you where goods are not delivered, where what arrives is not what was described or ordered, where goods are damaged or defective, or where you have been charged twice or charged the wrong amount. For books and school fees, the money belongs to your school, so a refund may need the school's agreement; we will take that up with them on your behalf rather than sending you between us. For provisions the decision is entirely ours.
Nothing in these terms takes away the rights the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 gives you as a consumer, including your right to goods that match their description and to a refund where they do not. We cannot ask you to sign those rights away and we are not trying to.
12. If you are a school
- You are responsible for what you publish: your catalogue, your prices, your booklists, your fee structures and your bank details. Publish a wrong price or wrong account details and the consequence is yours.
- Confirm or reject manual payments promptly. A parent who has paid and is waiting on your confirmation cannot receive their books.
- You are the data controller for your students' records and for your staff accounts. We process them on your instructions, as set out in the Privacy Policy, and you are responsible for having a lawful basis to give them to us.
- Keep your staff accounts current. Deactivate an account when someone leaves; you can do it yourself at any time.
- You decide which payment methods parents can use, and you can change that at any time.
13. Money we collect for a school
When a parent pays online, the money reaches our balance first and we owe it onward to the school. Payments made by direct bank transfer or in cash never pass through us and create no balance either way.
- We remit the school the price it set. The payment provider's processing cost is ours to absorb, not the school's and not the parent's.
- Against that we charge a flat naira transaction fee per payment, set separately for book orders and for school fees, and netted off what we remit. The rate in force when a payment is confirmed is the rate that applies to it; changing the rate later cannot reach back into money already collected.
- Payouts are recorded in the platform when they are made. A school can see what has been collected, what has been paid out and what remains owed, at any time.
- Provisions money is ours and never forms part of a school's settlement, because no school is party to a provisions order.
14. What you must not do
- Register a child you have no right to register, or order in someone else's name.
- Upload a forged or altered proof of payment.
- Try to reach data belonging to another parent, another school or another child, or probe the platform for a way to do so.
- Use the platform to break the law, or to send anyone abusive or threatening messages through it.
- Copy, scrape or resell the platform, its catalogue or its content.
15. Availability
We work to keep the platform running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. We may take it down for maintenance, and we may change, add or withdraw features. Where a change materially affects you we will tell you.
Notifications about your orders appear in the app. Email delivery of those notifications is not yet switched on, so treat the app as the place where the current state of an order lives.
16. Where our responsibility ends
We are responsible for running the platform: taking your order accurately, recording your payment, and passing the right instructions to the right school. We are responsible for provisions from end to end, because we sell them.
We are not responsible for the quality, accuracy or suitability of the books a school lists, the fee a school charges, or a school's decisions about your child. Those are the school's, and a dispute about them is between you and the school, though we will help where we can.
Except for anything that cannot be limited under Nigerian law, our liability to you for any claim connected with the platform is limited to the amount you paid through it in the three months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing here limits our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit.
17. Suspension and closing your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time. We will do it, and delete or anonymise what we are not required to keep; the Privacy Policy explains what stays and why.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks section 14, that is being used fraudulently, or that we are required to act on by law. Where we can we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. Suspension does not cancel an order you have already paid for, and does not release us from refunding you what you are owed.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top changes with them, and we will tell you in the app or by email before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, close your account.
19. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Before that, come to us. Most disputes are a mistake someone can fix in a day. You can also take a consumer complaint to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, or a complaint about your personal information to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, whether or not you have raised it with us first.
20. Contact
Email help@easyresumption.com or call 0707 376 5902 or 0815 034 8205. Signed-in parents can also raise a request from the help and support page, which puts it in a queue with an owner rather than in one person's inbox.
Something gone wrong with an order?
Refunds and cancellations are handled by a person, not a button. Tell us what happened and we will sort it out with you and, where the money is theirs, with your school.
